Frozen versus chilled meat export

When to book a reefer at −18°C and when chilled air freight is the honest option.

logistics — Crestline Exports export insight cover

Frozen buffalo and most chicken sea freight sit at −18°C core. That is the Gulf supermarket and processor default. Shelf-life for frozen red meat is commonly discussed around twelve months in UAE guidance, subject to the actual standard on the label.

Chilled mutton carcasses and some chicken fly at 0–4°C. Life is short. Vacuum-packed chilled red meat in the UAE has a defined window from slaughter — it is not a frozen product with the thermostat raised.

We will not put carcass mutton in a −18°C box and call it chilled. The brief chooses the temperature; the packing follows.
